Privacy Policy

Effective date: 08/07/2024

Dear user, this Privacy Policy outlines how Allot (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and shares personal data through our DigitalProtection services (Hereinafter: “Personal Data”). By using our DigitalProtection products (specifically, our child-application and our parent webportal), you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

What does Digital Protection do?

DigitalProtection is providing parental control services to keep children safe on the Internet. Our services assist you in monitoring and protecting mobile devices and applications under your control, including those used by minors and family members. The services allow you to customize the monitoring settings for each of your protected accounts. You are solely responsible for configuring the services for your accounts.

Consent to Privacy Policy

By using the DigitalProtection application (Hereinafter: “APP”) and services, you consent to all the terms of this Privacy Policy, as amended from time to time. If you do not agree to all the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the application or services. You are not obliged by law to provide your personal data to Allot; however, if you choose not to provide the data, some of the services provided through the DigitalProtection application may not be available.

This privacy policy explains which personal data is collected about you via our DigitalProtection application. The application is designed to provide parental control and safety features for children and family members. This privacy policy will help you understand how and why we process your data, including data on online identifiers we use.

What kind of data we collect?

The data we collect through the use of the services may include device identifiers, account data, usage data, and personal data about you or your protected accounts (“Data“). The types of Data that may be collected include:

Mobile Device Identifiers: We may collect data about your device, including the operating system, operating platform, device name, and device identifier such as the UDID for Apple devices. We are using this data for troubleshooting and to identify and associate the device to your account. Device data, which we retrieve from the device, is visible to you on our “About Screen”, which is accessible from the home-screen of the child-application. The purpose of collecting this data is for testing and development to validate the functionality and performance of our APP, and for user communication to manage our relationship with you and respond to your enquiries, under the legal basis of legitimate interest.

Browsing Data: We collect and analyze browsing data to protect your family members from harmful websites, based on the policy you set for your family members. The collected browsing data is visible to you on the parent web-portal. The purpose of collecting this data is to provide effective parental control services and to improve the safety of online interactions for your family. The legal basis for this processing is the performance of a contract in enhancing user safety and service functionality.

Installed Applications: We collect and analyze installed applications on the device to protect your family members from harmful applications, based on the policy you set for your family members. The list of applications is visible to you on the parent web-portal. The purpose of collecting this data is to ensure the security and suitability of installed applications and to provide insights for parental monitoring. The legal basis for this processing is the performance of a contract in safeguarding users and optimizing service features.

Location Data: We do not actively track your location. For iOS devices, there are instances where we may utilize the location permission. This occurs only when a child device is idle and the DigitalProtection application is no longer running, as a result of performance enhancement algorithms implemented by Apple. In such cases, the location permission is used solely to wake up the child-application when a significant change in location is detected. We understand the importance of respecting your privacy, and we strictly adhere to these practices to ensure your peace of mind. The purpose of collecting this data is to support app functionality and to enhance location-based features only when necessary. The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in providing location-based services and the performance of a contract.

Measures for Transparency and User Experience

To ensure a transparent and user-friendly experience, we outline the following measures regarding how we handle your data and the security measures we implement:

Notification and Access: As a user of our services, you may receive notifications and reports regarding specific data monitored by our services. These notifications may include service activation, website blocking, heartbeat notifications (when the child’s device is not communicating with the server), and quiet time start/end notifications, all including the profile name assigned by the parent. Additionally, reports will detail the number of websites blocked and the number of analyzed websites. Your Authorized Users (the account manager/parent) will also have access to this data on our parental web-portal. Please be aware that some of this data may include Personal Data, which will be handled in accordance with our privacy policy.

Data Sharing: Data we retrieve from the child device is only shared with the account manager, the parent. However, for legal reasons, we may also share your data if we reasonably believe it is necessary to:

  1. Comply with a legal process or governmental inquiry.
  2. Investigate and prevent illegal activities.
  3. Protect our rights or property, or those of any person or entity.

Children’s Privacy: Our services aim to provide a tool for parents to ensure safe online interactions for their children. Our services can only be subscribed to by individuals over the age of 18 or those who have obtained valid consent from a parent or legal guardian over the age of 18. It is important to note that this site is not designed or intended to appeal to children under the age of 13. Although our Services involve the analysis of online interactions by children, we are committed to not knowingly collecting data from children under the age of 13 without obtaining verified consent. If you are under the age of 13, we kindly request that you refrain from submitting any data to us.

Data Storage. We generally store data about blocked websites and downloaded applications for up to 30 days, after which it is deleted. The following data is collected by the service and will be kept until the account is deleted: account name, account password, monitored devices.

Retention

We may retain your data for a duration that aligns with the original purpose of its collection. For example, we may keep contact details for the necessary time to address your request, or for an extended period if required to maintain records, comply with legal and regulatory obligations, or resolve ongoing or future disputes, based on our legitimate interest in doing so.

Data Security: We implement robust technical and organizational measures to safeguard your data from unauthorized use, access, alteration, loss, or misuse. These measures take into account the latest technological advancements, the nature of the stored data, and the potential risks it may face. Our comprehensive security approach includes encryption protocols for all Data, both when it is stored and when it is transmitted, providing an additional layer of protection. By employing encryption, we maintain the confidentiality and integrity of your Data, reducing the likelihood of any unauthorized exposure.

While we employ security measures to protect your data, it’s important to note that no system is entirely immune to breaches. As such, we cannot ensure the absolute security of your data and do not accept liability for unauthorized access. Should any breach occur within our control, we will promptly investigate and, if necessary, notify affected individuals and take appropriate action in compliance with relevant laws and regulations. By using our services, including our website, software products, and apps, or providing data to us through any means, you consent to electronic communication regarding security, privacy, and administrative matters related to your use of our services.

It’s your responsibility to safeguard your account access data (e.g., username and password) and limit access to the device or computer you use to access our services. Users of shared or public devices should log out after each session, and if you sell or return a device, be sure to log out and deactivate it beforehand. Failure to maintain the security of your account or device may lead to unauthorized access by subsequent users, for which we cannot be held responsible.
